1. Introduction
Skipjack Arts is a maritime art studio that measures working boats before painting them, and the same care that governs a rigging survey governs how we handle personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect when you visit www.skipjackarts.hair, write to the studio, request a commission, attend an open deck day, or ask to receive our seasonal notes. It is written in plain English on purpose. We believe that a privacy policy should be readable by the person it protects, not only by a lawyer reviewing a filing.
The website is operated by Skipjack Arts LLC, a company registered in the United States with a studio at 299 W 1380 N, Orem - 84057-6516, United States (US). Throughout this document the words we, us and our refer to Skipjack Arts LLC. The words you and your refer to any person who visits the site, contacts the studio, or engages our services. The words site and website refer to www.skipjackarts.hair and any page hosted under that domain.
We designed this site to be quiet. There is no account system, no checkout, no advertising network, and no visitor tracking pixel placed by us. The contact form prepares a message in your own mail program rather than transmitting your text to a server we control. That design choice reduces the amount of information we hold, and it shapes every section that follows.
Please read this policy before you send an inquiry or commission work. If any part of it is unclear, write to assembly@skipjackarts.hair and we will explain it in ordinary language. If you do not agree with the practices described here, the simplest course is to browse the site without sending us information, because browsing alone collects very little.
2. Who We Are
Skipjack Arts LLC is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. We are a small studio, and the person who answers your email is usually the same person who will survey your boat. Our contact details are as follows.
- Legal entity: Skipjack Arts LLC
- Postal address: 299 W 1380 N, Orem - 84057-6516, United States (US)
- Email: assembly@skipjackarts.hair
- Telephone: +13692408534
- Website: https://www.skipjackarts.hair
We do not appoint a separate data protection officer because the volume of personal information we handle is modest and the categories are narrow. Instead, one member of the studio team is responsible for privacy questions, and all inquiries addressed to the email above reach that person directly.
If you are a resident of a jurisdiction that requires a local representative, you may contact us at the address above and we will respond within the period that the applicable law allows. We will always confirm receipt of a privacy request so that you know it has arrived.
3. Scope of This Policy
This policy covers personal information processed through the website, through email and telephone contact with the studio, through commission agreements, and through in person visits to the studio and to open deck days. It does not cover information that you share with another business, even if that business is mentioned on our site or linked from it.
If you visit a framer, a shipper, a payment processor or a gallery that we recommend, that business applies its own privacy practices. We encourage you to read those practices before sharing sensitive information with any third party. Our policy cannot govern a company we do not control, and we would rather say so plainly than imply a protection that does not exist.
This policy also does not cover anonymous information that can no longer be linked to a person. We may keep aggregate notes about how many inquiries arrive in a season, but those notes never identify an individual and are used only to plan the working calendar.
4. Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to answer a question, prepare a commission, deliver a finished work, or keep the studio running. The categories below describe everything we may hold about you.
Information you give us directly
When you write to the studio, call the studio, or complete the contact form on the website, you may provide your name, your email address, a telephone number, a postal address for delivery, and the content of your message. For commissions, you may also provide details about a vessel, its home harbor, its history, and any reference materials you choose to share.
Information created during a commission
A commission generates working records that can include survey notes, measurements, reference photographs taken at the dock, approval correspondence, invoices, and shipping confirmations. These records belong to the studio as a working archive, and they can contain your name, address and contact details because the work cannot be delivered without them.
Information collected automatically
Like most web servers, the server that hosts this site records technical details each time a page is requested. These details usually include an internet protocol address, the browser type, the operating system, the referring page, and the date and time of the request. We do not use this information to identify visitors, and we do not combine it with the information you send by email.
Information we do not collect
We do not ask for government identification numbers, financial account numbers, health information, precise location data, biometric data, or information about your political or religious beliefs. If you send such information to us without being asked, we will delete it once we notice it, unless a legal obligation requires that we keep a record.
5. How We Collect Information
Most information reaches us because you choose to send it. You send it when you use the contact form, when you reply to an email, when you call the studio, when you hand over a reference photograph, or when you sign a commission agreement. You are never required to send information in order to read the public pages of this site.
A small amount of technical information reaches us automatically through the hosting server, as described above. We do not run analytics scripts that follow you across other websites, and we do not embed social media buttons that report your visit to another company.
We may also receive information from a shipper or a payment processor when an order is fulfilled. That information is limited to what is needed to confirm that a parcel arrived or that a payment cleared, and we treat it with the same care as information you send directly.
6. Why We Use Information
We use personal information for a short list of purposes, each tied to a concrete studio task.
- To answer an inquiry about a commission, a print run, an open deck day, or a studio visit.
- To prepare a survey plan, a written scope, and a quotation for a proposed commission.
- To paint, print, pack and deliver the work that has been agreed.
- To keep a studio register that documents each plate, print run and commission for future reference.
- To send the seasonal notes that you have asked to receive, and to honor requests to stop receiving them.
- To meet tax, accounting and record keeping duties that apply to a small business.
- To protect the studio, the site and our clients from fraud, misuse or unlawful activity.
We do not use personal information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal information. We also do not use information for automated decision making that produces legal effects for you. Every decision about a commission is made by a person.
7. Lawful Bases for Processing
Where the law requires us to identify a lawful basis, we rely on the following grounds. First, we process information with your consent when you send an inquiry or subscribe to the seasonal notes. Second, we process information to perform a contract when you commission work and we must deliver it. Third, we process information for our legitimate interests in running a small studio, provided those interests do not outweigh your rights. Fourth, we process information to comply with legal obligations such as tax and accounting rules.
When we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time by writing to assembly@skipjackarts.hair. Withdrawal does not affect work that was already carried out lawfully before the withdrawal, and it does not affect records that we must keep for legal reasons.
We do not rely on consent for information that is necessary to answer a question you have asked us, because answering the question is the purpose for which you contacted us. We will always tell you if a particular category of information is optional rather than necessary.
10. Service Providers
A handful of service providers support the studio. Each one receives only the information needed for its task, and each one is expected to protect that information and to use it for no other purpose.
- A hosting provider that keeps the website online and records routine server logs.
- An email provider that carries messages to and from assembly@skipjackarts.hair.
- A shipping company that delivers finished paintings and print runs.
- A payment processor that handles card payments when a client chooses that method.
- An accountant who maintains the financial records required by law.
We review these relationships when a contract renews. If a provider cannot explain how it protects information, we look for another provider. We do not permit a provider to use studio client information for its own marketing.
11. How Long We Keep Information
Inquiries that do not become commissions are kept for two years so that we can remember a conversation if you return in a later season. After two years they are deleted, unless you have asked us to keep the thread open.
Commission records, including the rigging sheet, survey notes, approval correspondence and invoices, are kept for seven years after delivery. This period matches the accounting and tax records that a small business must retain, and it also allows us to answer a question about a work years after it leaves the yard.
Print run records are kept permanently in the studio register, but the register holds only the plate number, the run size, the closing date and the name of the person who commissioned the assembly. It does not hold payment details or private correspondence.
Server logs are rotated automatically by the hosting provider and are generally discarded within a short period. We do not copy those logs into our own archive.
12. How We Protect Information
We protect information with practical measures rather than elaborate claims. Email accounts use strong unique passwords and multi factor authentication. Devices that hold studio records are encrypted and kept under physical control. Paper survey notes are stored in a locked cabinet at the studio, and reference photographs are kept in a folder that is shared only with the people working on the commission.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach occurs that is likely to affect your rights, we will notify you without undue delay and tell you what happened, what we have done, and what you can do to reduce the risk. We will also notify the relevant authority where the law requires it.
You can help by keeping your own email account secure and by telling us promptly if you receive a message that claims to come from the studio but looks unusual. We will never ask for a password by email, and we will never request payment to an account that differs from the one named in the written scope.
13. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. We honor these requests for every client and visitor, not only where the law compels us.
- The right to know what personal information we hold about you and how we use it.
- The right to receive a copy of that information in a portable format.
- The right to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- The right to ask us to delete information that we no longer need to keep.
- The right to ask us to restrict or object to certain processing.
- The right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- The right not to be discriminated against for exercising a privacy right.
To exercise a right, write to assembly@skipjackarts.hair with enough detail for us to find your records. We may ask for a small amount of confirming information to protect against an impersonated request, but we will not demand more than is necessary. We answer within thirty days, and we will tell you if a legal retention duty prevents us from deleting a particular record.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the supervisory authority that covers your jurisdiction. We would appreciate the chance to resolve the issue first, and we will cooperate with any authority that reviews a complaint.
14. Privacy for Children
This site is intended for adults who are interested in maritime art, commissions and studio visits. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under thirteen years of age. Open deck days welcome families, but a child who attends is accompanied by an adult, and we ask the adult to provide any contact details that are needed.
If we learn that we have collected information from a child under thirteen without the consent of a parent or guardian, we will delete it promptly. If you believe that such information has reached us, write to assembly@skipjackarts.hair and we will act on the request without delay.
We do not direct advertising at children, we do not build profiles of children, and we do not offer any feature on this site that is designed to collect information from a minor.
15. International Visitors
The studio is located in the United States, and the information described in this policy is processed in the United States. If you visit from another country, you should know that the laws of the United States may differ from the laws of your home jurisdiction.
When we transfer information internationally, for example to reach a client who has commissioned a portrait from abroad, we use the protections that the relevant contract allows and we limit the transfer to what the work requires. We do not move information between countries for any other reason.
If a transfer is subject to a specific legal mechanism, we will describe that mechanism in the written scope or in a supplement to this policy. Requests for further detail can be sent to the studio email address at any time.
16. Studio Letters and Marketing
We send seasonal notes a few times a year to people who ask for them. A note may describe an upcoming harbor scene week, a new print run, or an open deck day. It never contains a tracking pixel, and it never shares the mailing list with another business.
You can join the list by writing to assembly@skipjackarts.hair, and you can leave it by using the unsubscribe line in any note or by writing to the same address. We remove an address promptly after a request, and we keep only a short suppression record so that we do not accidentally add it again.
We do not use personal information for targeted advertising, retargeting, lookalike audiences or behavioral profiling. If that ever changes, we will ask for fresh consent and update this policy before the change takes effect.
17. Third Party Links
This site may link to the websites of a boatyard, a museum, a framer or a shipping company. Those sites are outside our control. When you follow a link, the privacy policy of the destination site applies, and you should read it before sharing information.
We check our links when we add them, but a destination site can change without notice. If you find a link that leads to unexpected content, tell us and we will review it. A link is not an endorsement of another company privacy practice.
18. Changes to This Policy
We review this policy at least once a year and whenever the studio changes how it handles information. When a change is material, we will update the date at the top of the page and describe the change in a short note. When a change needs your consent, we will ask for it before the change takes effect.
Previous versions are kept in the studio archive and can be provided on request. If you continue to use the site after a change is posted, you accept the revised policy for the period that follows, but that acceptance does not remove any right you already have under the law.
We will never quietly broaden the purposes for which we use information you have already given us. If a new purpose requires it, we will contact you and ask.
19. How to Contact Us
Questions about this policy, requests to exercise a right, and complaints should be sent to the address below. We answer every message, and we keep a record of privacy requests so that we can confirm that a request was handled within the required period.

20. Plain Language Summary
The important points are short. We collect the details you send us and the details needed to deliver a commission. We use them to answer you, to make the work and to keep the records a small business must keep. We do not sell them, we do not advertise with them, and we do not track you across other sites. We keep them only as long as the studio needs them, and you can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold. If anything here is unclear, the studio door and the studio inbox are both open.
Thank you for trusting a small yard with your information. We take that trust seriously, and we will keep this page honest as the studio grows.
